UK Email Addresses

To all UK pylonracers can I ask you to please contact me with your up to date email address, as over the past six months I seam to have lost touch with one or two flyers, this has resulted in them not receiving heat sheets and other information which is sent out via email. To try and reduce this problem over the winter my plan is to work out how to put the heat sheets on the web site in a format that can be easily printed off.

New Q500ec UK Championship 09

19th April 2009 will see the first round of the new UK Q500ec championship, this will consist of 7 (5 best to count) meetings each to consist of 6 races plus a final with points being awarded for each placing to go forward to the championship series league, the winner of which will receive the championship trophy (more info coming soon). A full revue of the rules will take place before the end of year, don't expect any changes as were only expecting to write up a points score system for the championship, if you have any idea's please feel free to come along to the agm. These events will be run along side F3D / F5D at a venue to be confirmed later in the year.

A quick summery of what's gone on this year, we (Barrie Lever, Paul Harvey and myself) having been flying Q500ec models of several different designs and construction, our general thoughts are that any well designed and built model whether its built from scratch costing £50-60 or a £300 all molder, they are equally competitive. Engines, we have run Dubb Jett cast and BSE motors in both long stroke and short stroke, in truth there is very little difference on one day, one will have the edge the following day the other. In Europe we have seen most of the top flyers use the Nelson again both in LS and SS formats, our feeling is that the Dubb Jett is just as good and when we have the correct engine set up and propeller selected, expect to be very competitive.

We have been flying this year at the UK F3D meetings, but we also attended the Belgium Europa-Cup meeting to get a feel for the competition, we came away thinking this is going to tuff but not impossible, given some time working on the engine set ups and a bit more race time, I'm sure a top 10 (5 for Barrie and Paul) place is not out of the question. Along with us this year, at a few selected UK meetings has been Karl Bollon flying a Paul Harvey Bull Dog with his normal impeccable style, given a good motor I'm sure he will give them a good run for there money. Also we have seen five new racers, Warrick Smith, Adam Richardson, Adrian Peters, Mark Gillmore and Stuart Simpson, all very keen and I'm sure will soon be getting to grips with our pylons. We also have just had confirmation that a number of experienced racers will be joining us to add some spice to next years championship. My thoughts are that if we get any more new racers we will have to run two leagues A group sub 80 second flyers, and B group for all the new flyers to compete in for their first year, expect news on this later in the year.

If your looking for an airframe to race with, we currently have two models now being stocked in the UK Paul Harvey's Bull Dog e-mail  for more information, plus a stock of the all molded Ninjas are available through Warrick Smith e-mail. for more information

Over the past two years Dave Cline has been using this prototype (blue) greatmate stand to great affect both at home and out on tour, with this in mind after a major clear out of my workshop and the dumping of the old table, I took the decision to invest in a greatmate. First impressions are very good, fully adjustable and plenty of scope for attachments to ensure all the tools are at hand, vital at our UK race meetings. For more information on these stands CLICK HERE , plus you could also have a chat with proprietor Adrian Lindley as he will be attending the final championship rounds.

MB rear

Do you remember what happened to Joe's MB rear last year.

After its conrod made a brake for freedom, I thought that was the end of that and we give the parts to two local retired engineers (Stuart Robinson and Rob Duckitt), they just wanted to cast their eye over the parts. Look what they did to it, see the photo.

We are now looking for a pile of Profi Fi bits to assemble and do the same, can you help.

Have you been wondering where Dean is, have a look Click Here and lookout for team Going Lean.
